The Greedy Dog children’s story
Dear children, I will tell you a fairy tale… One day, a greedy dog found a piece of bone and thought he would hide in a corner and eat it. He set off to eat it somewhere far away so that his friends would not see it and ask for it. He traveled far and wide, up and down. Finally, he reached a lush green forest in a distant place. Right in the middle of the forest was a stream with deep blue water.
To cross the stream, he headed towards the bridge over the stream. He was walking in the middle of the bridge when he saw a dog in the stream with a piece of bone in its mouth. Greedy dog;
- “What a huge piece of bone. It’s fit for my mouth, I should eat it.”
The greedy dog barked at the dog in the stream, trying to get the bone in its mouth, and dropped it in the stream. Then he realized that the image in the stream was his reflection. The piece of bone fell into the stream and was washed away with the water. The poor dog stared after the bone. He learned a little too late that it’s bad to be greedy.
Fox and Hedgehog
Once upon a time, a fox ate his prey with relish and started walking in the forest. A hedgehog came in front of him. The fox saw the hedgehog for the first time in his life,
“Who are you? What is your name?” he asked.
The hedgehog replied;
“I am a hedgehog. And who are you?”
- “I’m a fox, too. I am also known as the most cunning animal in the forest. What are you doing here?”
- “I have no friends in the forest. I am so bored of being alone, I wander around out of boredom?”
- “I am bored and lonely like you. You and I have common feelings, let’s travel together, let’s be good friends. We can hunt together, eat, drink and have fun.”
“Okay, I accept.”
The fox asked;
- “What knowledge do you have to catch prey? How can we catch our prey together with you?”
“I have only one knowledge. What knowledge do you have?”
“I am a cunning animal. I am the best at cunning in the world. You see, I have all kinds of tricks for the hunt, I know every way. I am very knowledgeable.”
“Unfortunately, we will hardly be friends like this. Because while I have knowledge, you don’t know anything!”
“The fox, who was boasting in the face of the hedgehog’s praises, was curious and asked; How do you live with one knowledge?”
“Give me your foot and I will show you.”
When the fox puts his foot out to the hedgehog, the hedgehog immediately warms the fox’s foot and it snaps shut. The fox jumps up in the air in pain, then rushes at the hedgehog, but because the hedgehog shields his thorns, they sting the fox and he gives up and retreats.
The fox said;
“You have outsmarted me with your knowledge. Congratulations, let’s be friends.”
From that day on, the fox and the hedgehog became good friends. They used to hunt together, eat and drink together. One day, these two were hungry and decided to enter a henhouse they saw. They wanted to set a trap and catch the roosters. They decided to set a trap and catch the chickens. While they were setting the trap, the hedgehog’s foot got caught in the trap, no matter how hard he tried, he could not get out of the trap. He calls out to the fox a little far away;
- “Brother fox, my foot is caught in the trap, please come and save me.”
The fox hears the hedgehog’s shouts and cries but does not pay any attention. He quietly enters the hen house, grabs a rooster and goes out. The hedgehog was angry at this behavior of the fox:
“Brother Fox, you and I were good friends, we used to eat and drink together. Let’s not part badly like this, let me kiss your leg once, and if we are going to die, let’s die as friends.”
The fox, boasting of the hedgehog’s praises, goes to the trap and offers his leg to the hedgehog for a kiss. The hedgehog bites his foot and never lets go. No matter how hard the fox tries, no matter how much he begs, the hedgehog does not trust him and does not let go of his foot. They both wait in the henhouse like that until morning.
Finally the day dawns, the owner of the hen house goes inside the hen house to let his animals out, and what do you see; a fox is lying in the hen house. He immediately goes into the house and comes out with his rifle and shoots the fox on the spot. As he drags the fox outside, he suddenly realizes that the fox has caught a hedgehog by the foot. He immediately rescued the hedgehog from the trap:
“Not only have you saved all my animals, but you have also made me a fur owner, so I am setting you free.” Thus, the hedgehog is set free and the fox pays for his betrayal with his life.
